In 2003, the University of Notre Dame made the decision to shut down the AFS cell (Andrew File System). It took us four projects over the course of 16 years before we were able to finally retire the main nd.edu AFS environment. The Legend of Androosef tells the story of retiring AFS and the importance of using the right approach to retire a service offering.
